My fiancé Edward’s 30th birthday was on August 27th, and I had a full on surprise party planned for him. I booked a room for two nights at the Roosevelt hotel, and while getting my pocketbook ready for the “birthday dinner” I “realized” I forgot my credit card at the bar from the night before. Obviously, this was all concocted: I did go to a bar for the sake of the set-up (wink, wink), but I didn’t forget my credit card.

On Cloud 9!

I dragged him to the lounge/rooftop bar where his 60 family, friends (inclusive of almost 10 out-of-state friends) were patiently waiting. For the cause, I even started an argument in the taxi so he wouldn’t suspect a thing! When we arrived, he was thrilled by the surprise. My gift to him that evening was a trip to Punta Cana, DR for Labor Day weekend! I had already requested the time off for him, but that also meant he needed to pack up for the following weekend!

We arrived at Punta Cana, and enjoyed the first evening there in paradise. On the second day, in the afternoon, we went for a beautiful stroll on the beach where Ed was falling a bit behind. He called out my name, and as I turned around I caught a glimpse of something sparkling in the sun! Edward was down on one knee, told me he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and asked if I would be his wife! I was so surprised; I had no idea what to do: I fell on my knees crying and hugging him, and he reminded me I hadn’t given him an answer! I answered that there was nothing more that I wanted than to be with him forever. Needless to say, we were on Cloud 9 for the remainder of the vacation!!
